Frenchman Butte Heritage Centre & Museum

Frenchman Butte National Historic Site

A short drive northeast of Frenchman Butte brings visitors to the Battle of Frenchman's Butte and the nearby Frenchman Butte National Historic Site. Informational signage and a short forested walking trail lead to a hillside overlooking the coulee where, on May 28, 1885, Wandering Spirit’s followers confronted the advancing Canadian militia during the North-West Resistance. The site offers a powerful glimpse into an important chapter of Canadian history.
